The opening ceremony for this year’s sports meeting was very exciting. First, selected groups of teachers and students representing each major marched together around the track led by fancy girls in high heels holding signs. I was invited to march with the English department, but when they found out that I didn’t have the department’s required yellow Spongebob shirt and matching red Spongebob hat the invitation was revoked. So I watched from the stands instead. After everyone marched back off the field, five teachers from the engineering department came out and flew model airplanes for 20 minutes. After that it was time for the dance performances. A group of students wearing Tarzan inspired costumes did tai chi around the Chinese flag. The ceremony ended with the students below who did a high energy dance in unison to “Flashdance…What a Feeling.”
