Now that it’s getting warmer, my students have started renting farms to have picnics in the countryside again! This time it was a social event for classes 4 and 6. There are six freshmen English major classes of about 30 students at my university. Those 30 students do everything together during their freshmen year – they have every class together and they’re roommates with each other. There are only a few extracurricular activities on campus and they don’t have many chances to get to know other people. I’ve been to a few official student gatherings now where every student in the two classes gets together – a little overly organized, but fun!
