The new president of our university has been making a lot of other great changes as well. Students will now be required to attend a five minute flag raising ceremony at 6:30 a.m. at the beginning of each semester. At 6:25 a.m. patriotic music blared out of the campus speakers while last minute stragglers raced to get to their assigned spot in line. At 6:30 six soldiers marched down the track to the flag pole. At 6:35, the flag was raised. Students were dismissed and everyone ran on top of each other to be first in line for breakfast. I was standing on the bleachers when I took this photo, but I imagine it must be a little difficult for the students in the back rows to see anything.
