This is my first (sort of) photo of Matthew, the one other American teacher who teaches at my university’s campus in Zigong and who is really great. He’s on the right with two of his friends from Goshen College who came to visit. They had all been posing for a photo, when these other guys on a motorbike came honking and riding through. Matthew is a Mennonite Partners in China teacher, an organization that focuses solely on service and cultural exchange and teaches in some of the same cities that Peace Corps volunteers are in. I didn’t know this before I came here, but there are Mennonite volunteers working in many developing countries and other international Peace Corps friends have told me that some of the only other foreigners near their towns were also Mennonite teachers and aid workers.
